Over the past few months, one cardigan has dominated the internet — debated, adored, criticised, memed, and endlessly talked about. Most people know it simply as the “Sex Cardigan”, and that’s how many first discovered it.

We’re very aware of that cultural moment — and we wanted to approach it thoughtfully.

Rather than using that phrase as the main title, we chose For the First Time, I Feel…

If you know the reference, you’ll understand why.

“Inspired by the Sex Cardigan” appears as a sub-heading to acknowledge how it’s widely recognised, without reducing the piece to a meme alone.

This cardigan is inspired by, not an exact replica of, the original.

The original piece was handmade — something we deeply respect — but not something that can realistically be recreated at scale or at an accessible price point.

This is our interpretation:

Designed to capture the same dramatic energy, silhouette, and feeling, while being wearable, reproducible, and accessible. Certain details — especially the back cut-out work — were essential to us and carefully considered throughout the design process. 

It isn’t meant to be identical — and it isn’t meant to be.

But it carries the same feeling.

HOW DOES IT FEEL?

This is, without question, the softest cardigan we’ve ever made.

Thick, plush, and incredibly cosy — it genuinely feels like being wrapped in a massive blanket and the best hug at the same time. It’s the kind of piece you throw on to curl up on the sofa and never want to take off… but also the kind you wear walking around the house feeling dangerously good.

Comfort and confidence, in equal measure.

The yarn is intentionally thick and substantial — one of our chunkiest cardigans — but carefully balanced so it’s still wearable and not uncomfortably heavy. It’s warm, drapey, and oversized without feeling restrictive.

She’s cosy. She’s dramatic. She’s strong. She’s giving soft life and bad bitch energy.

This cardigan features intentional design elements, including:

• Dangling / distressed threads
• Purposeful holes and cut-out details

These elements are part of the design and are not defects, faults, or damage.

The cardigan is designed to have a raw, dramatic, intentionally distressed appearance.

The presence of threads and holes is expected and intentional, and does not indicate wear, damage, or poor construction.

About the threads

If you prefer a cleaner look, the threads may be trimmed shorter or removed entirely using scissors. This will not compromise the structure or integrity of the garment.

⚠️ SIZING UPDATE — PLEASE READ BEFORE CHOOSING

This cardigan does not follow normal clothing sizing.

Both Size 1 and Size 2 are intentionally extremely oversized and will comfortably fit a wide range of body types.

Your usual shirt size (XL, 2XL, etc.) is not the deciding factor.

The main factor when choosing your size is:

• Your height

• How dramatic / oversized you want the length to be

Size 1 is still very oversized and long.

Size 2 is the most exaggerated, longest version.

Most customers who are unsure will be perfectly comfortable in Size 1. These are extremely long and oversized cardigans, BOTH sizes.

If you are choosing Size 2 purely because you usually wear XL/2XL clothing — please pause and read the full guide below. This garment is already extremely generous in fit.

Floor-length contact depends on height and body proportions and is not guaranteed in either size.

SIZING GUIDE - PLEASE READ IN FULL
This cardigan is intentionally oversized with a very loose knit. Fit is generous through the body and arms, and size choice is primarily about length and overall drama, not whether it will “fit” around the body.

Both sizes are designed to comfortably fit multiple body types and sizes.

Size 1

• Works across approx:
  
• UK: 6–22
• US: 2–18
• EU: 34–50
• On the higher end it’ll feel more wrapped/snug through the arms and less “floating-drape”, but still wearable.

• Long and oversized, but designed to be more wearable
• May touch the ground on shorter wearers
• Unlikely to touch the ground on taller wearers

General guidance:

• If you are 5’3 or shorter, the Size 1 garment may touch the ground
• If you are above ~5’3, Size 1 will still be long and dramatic, but likely will not touch the ground

📌 Size 1 has been worn comfortably by people up to 5’11 

Size 2

• Works across approx:
  
• UK: 8–26
• US: 4–22
• EU: 36–54
• Best if you want the biggest cocoon fit or you’re broader through shoulders/upper arms and want more ease.

• Longer and wider overall
• Closest to the original, exaggerated, floor-length inspiration
• Best option if you want the longest possible version

General guidance:

• Size 2 gives you the best chance of achieving a floor-length look
• On taller wearers, it may still sit above the floor, but will be significantly longer and more oversized than Size 1

Important Notes

• This is a loose knit, so measurements can vary slightly (up to ~10cm)
• The cardigan may lengthen slightly with wear
• Floor-length (touching the group) is not guaranteed in any size, but Size 2 is designed for those actively seeking it 

Quick Decision Guide

• Want wearable drama? → Size 1
• 5ft 3 and below?  → Size 1
• Want maximum length & original inspiration feel? → Size 2
• Taller and specifically want it to touch the ground? → Size 2

Height-Based Guidance 

You could include something like this verbatim — it’s honest and manages expectations well:

• 5’2” (157cm) and under:
  Size 1 may sit very low and could brush the ground
• 5’3”–5’7” (160–170cm):
  Size 1 = long and dramatic
  Size 2 = extra-long, closer to floor-length
• 5’8”–5’11” (173–178cm):
  Size 1 = long but wearable, usually not touching the ground
  Size 2 = longest option and most likely to trail
• 5’11”+ (180cm+):
  Size 2 recommended if you want maximum length — ground contact is still not guaranteed due to body proportions

👉 Ground contact is not guaranteed for every height, even in Size 2 — it depends on torso length, leg length, and how the knit relaxes over time.

Safety & Wearability Note

Due to the extra-long length, loose knit, and hanging ties, this cardigan may trail close to or along the ground depending on height and movement.

Please take care when:

• Walking on stairs or uneven surfaces
• Wearing with heels or platform shoes
• Moving in crowded or low-light environments

We recommend being mindful of the length when walking and lifting the hem slightly if needed.

Care Instructions

Due to the size and knit structure of this garment, machine washing is not recommended.

For best results:

• Hand wash cold
• Do not bleach
• Lay flat to dry
• Dry clean recommended

If machine washing is unavoidable:

• Use a laundry bag
• Cold wash only
• Wash at your own risk, as the garment may deform due to its size and weight

Improper washing may cause stretching or distortion and is not considered a fault.
